Sr. Technical Systems Analyst

Designs, develops, codes, tests, and debugs new software or enhancements to existing software. Must be competent to work on large, complex programs and projects independently. Works with technical staff to understand problems with software and resolve them. Drives the formulation of system scope and objectives. May be responsible for completion of a phase of a project. Provides guidance and training to less experienced technical systems analysts.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Leads the creation of class designs and coding specifications for projects.
  • Provides detailed planning estimates for development of project components.
  • Recommends improvements to organizational development and programming standards to improve quality and increase productivity.
  • Follows project development guidelines specified by more senior staff.
  • Notifies management of situations that may impact project schedules or budgets.
  • Informs management of day-to-day activities through established reporting procedures.
  • Develops and implements new and creative solutions to programming problems.
  • Leads and participates in code and design reviews; submits code and designs for review, and implements reviewers’ recommendations.
  • Analyzes and identifies root causes of problems and implements the appropriate solutions to solve the most complex and unusual problems.
  • Manages day-to-day assignments.
  • Maintains skill set at a high level of currency.
  • Defines documentation structures and templates and produces project documentation under general direction.
  • Works closely with subject matter experts, development team, implementation support and production support staff to define technical specifications, system scope and objectives.
  • Develops and executes unit test plans, assists in the development and maintenance of system test plans.
  • Leads implementation and post-implementation support.

Requirements - Experience:

  • 5-8 years of related work experience and Java certification

Must have:

  • Client/Server: Windows, Java, XML, Perl or other scripting language, Eclipse, ODBC, Log4J, JUnit, CVS or other source management tool

Preferable:

  • Mainframe: COBOL, JCL, FILEAID, ABENDAID, TSO/ISPF, DB/2, ChangeMan
