M.Sc. or PHd degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering (or equivalent).

5-10 years experience in research and development of real-time image processing and video and audio codecs with DSPs or co-processors and implementation in ASICs or FPGAs.

5-10 years project and personnel management experience.

Experience in established and emerging system standards such ATSC, DVB, DirectTV, DVD, HD-DVD, Bluray.

Demonstrated and extensive experience in image processing and video/audio codec algorithms and standards (MPEG 1/2/4, H.263/H.264, WM9, AC3, DTS ).

Excellent knowledge and experience in DSP architecture for software and hardware implementations.

Experience in image quality analysis and system standards qualification/validation.

Excellent interpersonal and team skills, with the ability to motivate and encourage others.

Proven ability to meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverables.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Analytical, thorough, resourceful and detail-oriented.

DSP Manager

Location: Toronto (GTA)

Role Summary:
The DSP R&D Manager will provide technical leadership and management of the Toronto DSP group responsible for the research and development of image processing and compression technologies for a new generation of video and graphics products.

Main Accountability:

  • Project planning, scheduling and resource allocation for R&D programs.

  • Algorithm modeling and evaluation, architectural analysis, implementation and verification, support tools and development environments.

  • Work with Standards bodies to establish development and system validation requirements and lead and manage the audio/video codec and system development and validation to meet those requirements.

  • Provide inter-departmental support to other groups within the company and ensure the timely transfer of knowledge to help ensure that all groups are aiming towards the same company goals.

  • Management of staff, including junior and senior engineers.

 

Must Have Skills/Experience:
